The provisions of this chapter also are not applicable to any motor vehicle that is owned by a licensed automobile dealer while the vehicle is held for resale by the dealer and is being operated by such dealer, or a salesman or employee of such dealer, in the ordinary course of business of the dealer, including travel to and from automobile auctions or other points of sale or purchase, and is not being operated for personal business or pleasure.
